Hello Girls!
No matter how much we love our trusty denims and skater dresses, we’re still desi girls from heart, who love decking up in traditional wear every chance we get! From a heavy anarkali to a comfy kurta, there’s a certain effortless elegance that comes with Indian wear. Whether it is for work, a family pooja, a wedding function or just like that, we tell you some essentials your Indian wear wardrobe needs. Pick up these little babies, and you’ll be ready to take on this festive season in style!
1. Easy Breezy Kurta-
Kurta's are the easiest indian wear you can wear. These are simple elegent and will make a statement.
Bright kurtas in light fabrics, fun prints and chikan embroidery are a quintessential staple for your ethnic wear closet. Pair them with jeans, leggings or patialas to stay comfortably cool on a hot day. An easy kurta will bail you out every time on those days when you feel like you have absolutely nothing to wear.
2. Festive Anarkali Suit-
Anarkali make you feel like princess. No traditional wardrobe can ever be complete without the classic Anarkali! I love anarkalis for their super-slimming ability, flattering fit and the power they have to make us feel oh-so-pretty - which makes them an ideal go-to for a Diwali party or a wedding function or a dressy desi dinner.
3. Leggings-
Replace those annoyingly stitched churidars that are loose around the knees but too tight at the ankles with a comfy pair of leggings. Aside from the basic black and white pairs, get them in different colours to mix and match with pretty tunics and kurtas. They really are a boon for your Western as well as your Indian wardrobe, and are comfortable enough to live in!
4. Festive Shoes-
We love a comfy pair of Kohlapuris or juttis or Mojri's to slip into and save you the fuss of what shoes to pair when you go traditional. What’s so great about them is that they are versatile enough to even wear with jeans to bring an Indian touch to an ordinary, everyday outfit. For a more formal, dressy look, you can’t go wrong with a pretty pair of silver or gold heels or wedges to elevate your style while making you look taller.
5. Traditional Long Skirt-
A pretty, vibrant skirt can be worn with tank top for a fun desi touch to your style and can be paired with a gorgeous blouse and dupatta for a mixed and matched lehenga. It is one item in your closet that you can count on to make you feel beautiful always.
6. Potli/Clutch -
After you have carefully put together your outfit, the bag that you pair with it can either make or break your look! An over-sized envelope clutch is not going to cut it when you go desi - you need a vibrant jhola to pair with your casual kurta, and an evening clutch or potli to go with a heavy sari or salwar suit.
7. Traditional Jhumki's-
No matter what you wear, from a kurta to a sari to a heavy salwar suit, a traditional stunning pair of jhumkis in silver or gold can be worn to finish off your style with fabulous flair. They’re gorgeous, can dress up any look without being too heavy, and are perfect for making a beautiful statement when you go traditional.
8. Beautiful Saree-
Nothing looks as good on an Indian woman as a beautiful saree. And with the crazy amounts of options of sarees available from different parts of the country, you’re spoilt for choice. You should definitely have at least one saree with a complementary blouse in your wardrobe.
9. Traditional Kare(bangles)-
Although Bangles are the symbols of married women in India but now a days this is making a style statement for every single girl too. You can wear a single bangle with your traditional attire and it will complement your whole outfit.
10. Multi color Dupatta-
A Phulkari or a multicolored dupatta can really brighten up your dull outfit. By wearing a multicolored dupatta over your basic salwar kameez can make you look glamorous and beautiful.
11. Lehnga-
A perfect dress for wedding festivities we need to have a lehenga in our wardrobe that can actually be reused and sometimes it can even be worn as a half saree. Accessorize it just right and you will be the hit of the function. Remember it is ok to try the non-bling lehengas as those can even be worn for dandiya parties. You can style it according to the function and rock the look!!
I hope this blog will help you girl's to select the ethnic wear necessity for your Wardrobe, and if yes please let me know. I will appreciate that!
Love!
